Hi! The workaround to use the B4 via RTAS is simple, and works fine. But, one must instantiate 3 B4's just to do it, as mentioned. While it isnt a hog, it is still kinda lame that NI did not "fix" this before release. Wonder if the Mac version has these probs/ Didn't think so... As far as the problem in the post above this: Real simple. Under MIDI menu, be sure Midi thru is checked, so that any notes played, and assigned properly (either as all, or via selecting a specific input) will trigger the appropriate instrument while recording. Next, goto Setups->Preferences->MIDI tab, and select "none" for default thru intstrument. This will assure ONLY what one assigns will get played. or respond to MIDI input. Since PT LE allows it, create 3 stereo Aux tracks, and then insert a B4 on each. Next, create 3 MIDI tracks. Set the input to the first to B4-1, next MIDI track to B4-2, and finally last MIDI track to B4-3. Raise faders on the Aux tracks with B4 on em, and then setup the keyboard splits on each instance of B4 (B4-1,2,3) so that the first has no split, second has as much of the lower keyboard assigned to the upper via keysplit, and lastly set the split on B4-3 to have the pedals occupy as much of the upper keyboard as possible. Assign same patch to all 3 B4's. Now comes the fun part. Whether you use PT, Cubase, Nuendo, etc- does not matter! If one has a single MIDI keyboard, and it does not have keyboard split or region assignments possible, each of the B4 "zones" will have to be recorded seperately no matter what. Unless one wants all three toplay the same thing, and then it is a simple matter of assigning the MIDI INPUT of each "tier" of the B4 (in PT, each instance represents a "tier"), and record enable all 3 MIDI tracks, and the same data will be recorded on each, but be routed to each of the 3 tiers, or instances. If the keyboard one uses has the ability to assign splits, or zones, for that MIDI keyboard, then each split will address and be output thru a seperate channel. Simply goto the INPUT select on each MIDI channel, and select the device (port), and channel as it relates to the MIDI keyboard one uses to trigger. Using 2 *real* MIDI keyboards and MIDI pedals to more accurately reproduce the "B4 experience," each will be on a different port, or channel, and selecting them for the appropriate MIDI channel INPUT in PT is obvious. To record MIDI on all three MIDI tracks set to trigger each of the B4's, simply hold shift and click the record enable button on each track. Got the MIDI recorded, and want it recorded as real audio now? Create 3 stereo Audio tracks, set up the bussing correctly, enable record on all three of the created audio tracks, record+play, and walla! An irritating, but relatively easy workaround. WHile irritating (obviously), it worls fine, and is as close to having NI code the plug-in properly to begin with as one can get...unless someone knows a secret???
