Horn

Hi I have an N Reg Volvo 960 Automatic, 228K miles. The horn has started sounding like a feeble buzzer, rather than a horn. Any ideas? Also, should there be a light under the gear lever? I can't see what gear I'm selecting in the dark. There is nothing in the manual about changing it, and it has been out as long as I can remember, but if there is supposed to be a light, it would be nice to have it working. Does anybody know?
