Has Pro Tools ever thought of 'Ports'???! (hear me out)

Hello everyone. First of all, i'd really like it if you'd read what i have to say, i think it's a good suggestion, personally. I love PT and it's work flow, but there's one problem that i think would slow everybody down, and that's that PT hasn't got port assigns. Now, here's my example on how it would be useful instead of creating countless instances of one plugin: First off, say if you loaded an instance of any VI, for this example i'm going to use the East West PLAY interface. Now, PLAY consists of 9 stereo audio outputs per instrument and able to load up to 16 instruments per instance that can be assigned to difference midi tracks. Now, say that you've already created 5 AUX inputs for your different string instruments such as, violins 1, violins 2, violas, celli and basses and you've already assigned each of your different instruments articulations outputs in PLAY to the AUX inputs, in this case outputs 1-2. 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10. Now, the problem that can happen is that say you've already loaded the maximum amount of instruments in that instance which is 16 and you now want to create another instance because you need to load another string articulation or two. The problem now is that you cannot assign the outputs of the second instance you've created to the same AUX tracks as the ones you sent the other instruments to in the first place and if you try this, there's no option to do it because you can only send outputs from one instance to an AUX track, or you can select to change the instance you want to come in the AUX input track which only leaves you the option of only enabling you to have 1 instance sent to an AUX track at a time. Now, when i say ports, i mean wouldn't it be much more help if we could avoid that situation? because now you have to go back and load your instruments across another instance which would mean reorganising everything during your compositon or mixing stage. Ports will help this, so let me explain. In FL Studio, each time you load a VI it comes with a wrapper attached to it with the option of setting a port number input or output. So what you can do is, you can create a midi track and assign it to the same input port number as the one you've set your VI on, in this case we will use the number 4, i think FL can go up to about 500 ports or so. Now what happeneds is that say if i created another instance because i loaded the maximum of 16 midi tracks for different articulations all set to port number 4 and decide i want more nstruments loaded, i can simply create another instance of PLAY and set all my midi channels to the same port number again which will enable me to send my 20 odd articulations to one whole audio track if i wanted to, or the same different audio tracks i've created. So say i've got violins 1 on channel 1, violins 2 on channel 2, violas on channel 3, celli on channel 4 and basses on channel 5, i can still assign the second instance i've opened to any one of the channels i assigned my first instance of instruments to, get it??? Normally i assign violins 1 to outputs 1-2, violins 2 to 3-4, violas 5-6, celli 7-8 and basses 9-10, all assigned in the audio tracks i mentioned above which were, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Basically, i never have to go back and reorganise my instruments spread over pointless audio tracks of the same instruments. Saying this, it would be cool if there was an option in the PT AUX input channels to assign a port number to it, plus the certain audio input you want on that channel, this way you won't have to create for example a second violins 1 channel for your second instance. Does anybody get me?? lol

Are you saying the outputs of Play can't be assigned to a bus? Because it sounds like that is what you are doing (trying to do).. Sub-mixing multiple audio outputs via a bus to a single Aux channel. I don't have Play so I don't know how it works..

lol, i knew you guys would be confused hehehe. PLAY has 9 stereo outputs, Kontakt has like 64 or something, so you'd rarely need another instance. Also, with Kontakt you can load way more sounds within the instance than PLAY, PLAY only allows up to 16 midi channels. Saying this, you know when you select the input you want from the AUX channel, For example, Kontakt 1, 2, 3, ect, ect? Well, i'm saying, what if you wanted 20 instruments spand over three instances going to the same AUX channel because they're all set to outputs 1-2?? You can't and that's why ports would come in handy. Say if i used all of plays articulations in the first instance and i had them all going to an AUX channel called strings which is PLAY 1 on the AUX channel, if i then create another instance and try to load all the instruments on the same AUX channel, i now can't, sooo, i'll now have to create a strings 2 AUX channel which i think just clogs things up. I think there shjould be an option where you can set the instances port number, then when you go toy our AUX channel and select the instance you want, i'm saying instead of selecting the certain instance you want in that input channel, you can just assign the same port number which means you can have as many instances going to one AUX channel at a time. Got me??
