Ignition key stuck after hand brake replacement

I just had my hand brake replaced and now the key won't come out of the ignition! Any ideas? K.

Handbrake replaced as in shoes, or handbrake lever or .. ? If its an auto, its not in anything other than P is it ?

yes automatic and in park... 

Yes shoes, and cables to hnad brake. Yes, automatic, of course it is in Park, it is a real problem I would love help with. It all started when I went in for a tire problem (which they could not find a problem to), they replaced my back brakes, discs, and disconnected the hand brake (as they said it was seized up). The hand brake shoe jutted out and shattered the disc while I was on the highway, metal flying out from the wheel scratching it and the tire. I took it in to be fixed, and suggested that they repair the hand brake even if I really did not need it as the car is automatic. They replaced the hand brake and now the key will not come out of the ignition regardless of anything you do. I am a bit weary and not trusting of the guys doing the work, so want to find out my own answers before they screw up something else.
