Rear knocking

MessageAuthor

Hello to all I have a V70 TDi 1998 R reg just broken in at 177000 still goes like a train and with T5 alloys and rear spoiler amazing how many people think it is a unmarked police car despite its age. Lots of things move out the way....Great. I have had new front drops links and shocks and have recently had rear bushed fitted ouch! I has now developed a knock from the rear sounds rear leftside to me but I would like to know of possible causes please. Kwik Fit have had it on the ramp and can not find anything loose or untoward so I need real advice please. It knocks over speed bumps if both wheels go over if I put the left wheels on the road and only the right ones go over the bump no knock. I twill also do it on the flat at low speed turning when accelerating. Any advice greatly received thanks.

Rear shock top mounts? Although really if they were on their way out that should have been spotted when the new shocks were fitted. Those rear bushes are so cheap aren't they? Not ;) Cheers, John

RE: Rear knocking

I had this recently - mechanics couldn't find anything apart from a tiny bit of corrosion right at the very at the top of the spring near the mount which could indicate some slight movement or perhaps a hairline crack in the mount - does the knock sound like a spring being hit?....Anyway all they did was grease it and touch wood it seems to have solved the issue - temporarily as it may be.

Rear shock mount as stated by you guys thanks. Will I be able to get these without buying a full shocker. Also steering rack leaking can I get seals or do I need a full rack?
