rotten fuel consumption

MessageAuthor

A friend, who drives a '95 2.3 lpt 940, recently had to get the in-tank fuel pump replaced. Since then, he reckons he's getting about 11mpg max. Any ideas/ suggestions before he gives up and gets rid of the car? Cheers, Jim

So what happened? And if he can't fix it is he giving it away? LPT would be just what I needed to breed with a 16V to make a B234+T

Perhaps it is an illusion with the fuel gauge not reading properly after the sender was disturbed , the in-tank pump is on the end of the level sender so perhaps the lever arm is catching something
